AMERI Spotlight August 2019: Rabiei Baboukani

Each month an AMERI user will be featured to showcase their work. Users consist of students, faculty, and professional researchers. The user of August 2019 is Rabiei Baboukani.

Rabiei Baboukani has been using the AMERI facilities since 2017. He conducts research on energy storage devices under the supervision of Dr. Chunlei Wang.

Rabiei Baboukani synthesizes and studies electrode materials for lithium-ion based energy storage devices and supercapacitors. His current research focuses on phosphorus-based materials for high-performance energy storage devices. He worked on the exfoliation of black phosphorus into 2D phosphorene nanosheets via novel bipolar exfoliation method for energy storage devices, catalysts, and biomedical systems. He is also working on red phosphorus-based composite for high-performance Li-ion batteries. The objective of the work is to achieve a novel energy storage device having high energy and power density with long cycle.

“My favorite thing about the AMERI facilities is the transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (JOEL FESEM 7000), X-ray diffractometer and fabricating microelectromechanical systems (C-MEMS) platform”.
